Inglis Easter Day-1: $2m Redoute's Choice Colt
New Zealand owner-syndicator Rob McAnulty (who has relocated to Victoria) paid top price of $2 million for a colt by boom Arrowfield Stud sire Redoute's Choice (the 5th foal from Last Tycoon mare Urge To Merge) during yesterday's opening session of the 3-day Inglis Easter Yearling Sale at Newmarket in Sydney. The colt was consigned by Scone-based Arrowfield as agent & McAnulty (who confirmed the horse was already syndicated & would head into training with David Hayes at Lindsay Park) commented: "He's a nice big well-grown colt, who'll not grow anymore; he'll just head to David's to fill-out now." His dam Urge To Merge (a winner over 1300m) is a sister to champion South African 2YO Tracy's Element & Towkay, plus a half-sister to Danasinga, Topasannah, Cullen, Humour (dam of Fatal Attraction) & Scribbling (dam of Prince Of War). From Urge To Merge's 5 foals, 2 have raced (both winners) including: Suntagonal (whose 5 wins from 1000-1400m include the South African Gr1 Greyville Premier's Champion Stakes & Gr2 Turffontein Protea Stakes, plus runner-up in the Gr1 Scottsville Gold Medallion); & 10-time winner Term.
