US Lawmakers Meet On Internet Gambling
In the US, the National Council Of Legislators From Gaming States "will gather on June 2 in Boston to discuss internet gambling & to review the status of the international gaming industry (which is illegal in the US)" reported thoroughbredtimes.com. Experts from private & public sectors will " debate the pros & cons of internet gaming & the legal & regulatory concerns surrounding it". The proposed Internet Gambling Prohibition Act was introduced in the US House Of Representatives on February 16; the bill (which would expand & modernise the prohibition against interstate gambling) contains an exemption for horse racing. But Florida Senator Steven Geller (president of the NCOLFGS) declared: "The Council believes internet gaming is a states' right issue. States should ultimately have final say over its existence in the US."
