Kentucky 2YOs: US$1.05m Fusaichi Pegasus Colt
In Kentucky, trainer Patrick Biancone (acting for a "good group of friends" that includes Fabien Ouaki, Martin Schwartz & Lewis Lakin) out-bid fellow trainer Nick Zito & paid top price of US$1.05 million for a Fusaichi Pegasus colt (the 1st foal out of stakes-winning A.P.Indy mare Indy Glory) at the 1-day Keeneland April Selected 2YOs-In-Training Sale in Lexington, reported thoroughbredtimes.com. The New York-bred colt (whose dam Indy Glory is a sister to Gr1 winner & sire Stephen Got Even) was consigned by Becky Thomas's Sequel Bloodstock as agent & ran 1 furlong in 11sec during the pre-sale under-tack preview. Biancone said he "expected the price to hit the US$1 million mark" & summed up: "I saw him in January & fell in love with him. I just had to wait until he came to the sales. He has a lovely action. He's certainly not a sprinter & we hope he's a 2-turn horse. He's a beautiful horse: he's Fupeg, he's A.P.Indy. The mother was great. We'll take a shot & see how good we are."
