Kentucky 2YOs: US$725,000 Point Given Filly
Egyptian brewing mogul Ahmed Zayat paid US$725,000 for a Point Given filly (out of Slew o' Gold mare Golden Thatch) reported thoroughbredtimes.com. The Kentucky-bred filly (consigned by Randy Miles as agent) is a half-sister to Gr2 winner Raw Gold (& from the family of stakes-winners Dixie Pearl & Cornish Snow). She breezed 1 furlong in 10.2sec during the pre-sale under-tack preview & Zayat's bloodstock agent Sobhy Sohbol commented: "She's a beautiful filly, a piece of work. She's the nicest filly in the sale. She has a lovely body, lovely pedigree & her sire is doing quite well right now." The filly previously sold for US$140,000 at the 2005 Keeneland January Horses-Of-All-Ages sale & consignor Miles summed up: "We were very pleased. We thought she could bring that much, but we weren't asking her to bring that much. That was the public that made her bring that."
