Eremein Wins Gr1 Queen Elizabeth Stakes

Monday, 24th April 2006

Former Arrowfield Stud shuttler & triple US Gr1 winner Timber Country (Woodman-Fall Aspen, by Pretense) added another Gr1 progeny triumph when 2005 Gr1 AJC Derby-winning 4YO gelding Eremein (Timber Country-Marrego, by Marscay) made it 3 successive Gr1 victories this campaign when he came from last into the straight with a powerful finish down the outside to grab a half-length win in the $800,000 weight-for-age Gr1 Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2000m) at Randwick. Eremein (ridden by Glen Boss for trainer Allan Denham) defeated 4YO mare Aqua D'amore (Danehill-Romantic River, by Irish River) & 5YO mare Ike's Dream (King Of Kings-Mrs Kahn, by Vain). Eremein now has 10 wins (also including the Gr1 BMW last start over 2400m on April 8 & Gr1 Ranvet Stakes over 2000m on March 25) & 7 placings (including runner-up in the Gr1 Chipping Norton Stakes over 1600m on March 11) in 21 starts for $4,004,845 earnings. Saturday's victory was also the 10th Gr1 success this season for jockey Glen Boss.
