Wednesday, 26th April 2006

In sale-ring-action prior to the Anzac Day holiday, NSW bloodstock agent Kieran Moore (buying on behalf of new European-based clients) paid the Day-2 top price of $900,000 for multiple group-winning 7YO mare Our Egyptian Raine (Desert Sun-Egyptian Queen, by Karioi Lad) at the 3-day Inglis Select Broodmare Sale at Newmarket in Sydney. Moore (who indicated the mare would remain in Australia to foal the Good Journey she was sold carrying, then be covered by Arrowfield Stud sire of the moment Redoute's Choice next season) summed up: "She's a nice type. She was a very genuine performer & a great racemare." On the track Our Egyptian Raine (consigned as part of the Written Bloodstock Syndicate dispersal) notched 10 wins (from 880-1400m) & earned $1,605,048 including the NZ Gr1 Railway Stakes, Gr2 Emirates Classic, Gr2 Moir Stakes, Gr2 Swettenham Stud Stakes, Gr3 Tristarc Stakes plus 8 Gr1 runner-ups & 2 Gr1 3rd-placings).
