My Middi Sale To HK

Thursday, 27th April 2006

The "plundering of the Australian bloodstock scene by Asian buyers continues, with promising juvenile gelding My Middi (Belong To Me-High Honour, by Best Western) appearing certain to join the Hong Kong racing scene," reported The Sydney Morning Herald. Trainer Marc Conners (who purchased My Middi for $25,000 at the 2005 Magic Millions Summer Sale) confirmed: "The horse is currently undergoing a stringent veterinary test & the results will definitely be known by Friday. I'm resigned to losing the horse; it is a big disappointment losing what is probably your best horse, but we didn't buy the horse for a lot & we've sold him for a healthy sum." Conners wouldn't reveal the price, but the newspaper noted "high 6-figure sums are common with horses streaming out of the country". A fortnight ago My Middi finished 3rd in the Gr1 AJC Sires' Produce Stakes (1400m) at Royal Randwick.
