Encosta $176k Heads Coolmore Roster

Friday, 28th April 2006

Colonial-bred 12-year-old stallion Encosta de Lago (Fairy King-Shoal Creek, by Star Way) heads the 2006 Coolmore roster for the upcoming Australian breeding season with a service fee of $176,000: up 33% from last year's $132,000. Following the conclusion of the Easter carnivals, Encosta de Lago has jumped to 2nd on this season's Australian General Sires List (by earnings) behind only boom Arrowfield Stud stallion Redoute's Choice. And his 40 yearlings sold at this month's Inglis Easter Sale averaged $345,000: including a $2.6 million Encosta de Lago-Oceanfast filly (a full sister to 4-time Gr1-winning racemare Alinghi, Australia's 2003-04 champion 2YO filly & then 2004-05 champion 3YO filly who won 11 races & $3,540,924).
