Trelawney Graduate Wins SAf Gr2

Wednesday, 5th July 2006

NZ Trelawney Stud graduate Wise Son (Montjeu-Wise Lass by Straight Strike) staked his claim as one of South Africa's leading 3YOs by claiming victory in the Gr2 Gold Vase (3000m) at Durban's Greyville over the weekend. Trained by South African maestro Mike De Kock - who has enjoyed international success with his South African raiders - Wise Man had already been Gr1 placed in the South African Classic (1800m) earlier in the season. He now boasts a race record of 3 wins & 3 placings from 11 starts with over R300,000 ($60,000) in the bank for his high profile owners Laurie Jaffee, Bernard Kantor and Mrs Dayle Kantor. Born and raised at Trelawney Stud, Wise Son was bred by Philip Newman of Otorohanga in the Waikato and was sold for NZ$160,000 through the Trelawney draft at the 2004 Inglis Easter Yearling Sale where he was purchased by Dominion Bloodstock.
