Leading British Hoop Calls It Quits
One of Britain's leading jockeys Richard Quinn has decided to retire from riding. According to thoroughbredtimes.com, Quinn retires with more than 2,000 wins from a riding career that spanned 27 years. The 44-year-old said, "It's a natural progression - the time to move on and do other things. ... All good things must come to an end eventually. Win, lose, or draw that was going to be my last ride, and it was a dream end to a marvelous career." Victorious in a number of Gr1 events, "Quinn won England's apprentice title in 1984 and finished second in the overall English standings in 1996 and 2000." Fittingly, Quinn went out a winner aboard Young Mick at Royal Ascot late last month.
