Takeover Target May Stay On In UK

Thursday, 6th July 2006

In a report released by racingpost.co.uk, it appears that tomorrow week's Gr1 Darley Cup may not be the last race Australian raider Takeover Target (Celtic Swing-Shady Stream, by Archregent) contests in England. Trainer Joe Janiak's son, Ben, who assists his father, commented: "The Australian horses have thrived in the conditions over here, so we might even stay for the Nunthorpe Stakes at York but we're not sure yet." The Gr1 Nunthorpe Stakes is run over 5 furlongs for 2YOs and above, and was won in 1990 by brilliant sprinter Dayjur in a course record 56.16sec.
