US Million Dollar Buy Shows Promise
The thoroughbred industry is littered with high priced yearlings that have lacked the ability to gallop out of sight on a dark night, so it is understandable that connections of these million dollar-plus horses breathe a sigh of relief when they live up to their billing. While there is still a long way to go, the US$1.2 million outlaid for E Z Warrior (by Exploit) at the 2006 Barretts March Sales For 2YOs is looking promising. According to bloodhorse.com, the juvenile's "explosive late run carried him to a 2 3/4-length victory over Great Hunter in the $100,000 Hollywood Juvenile Championship" on US Independence Day. Undefeated in his 1st 2 outings, E Z Warrior's high profile trainer Bob Baffert commented: "It's exciting when you have a horse like this. We knew when we bought him he looked like a race horse, but you never know until you start going five-eighths." The colt was consigned by Murray Smith who had snapped him up for a bargain US$100,000 pin-hook at the 2005 Ocala Breeders' Sales Company's August yearling sale.
