Arrowfield Issues Apology

Monday, 10th July 2006

Arrowfield Stud Chairman, John Messara has apologised to readers of a print media advertisement which he said inadvertently carried an inaccurate statement. The stud group's recent advertisement on Starcraft (Soviet Star, Flying Floozie, by Pompeii Court) claimed that the champion galloper had "the highest Timeform rating ever for an Australian galloper." Messara said that: "This is an inaccuracy as our research failed to take account of Balmerino's 1977 best rating which was superior to his subsequent season rating of 124 and was above Starcraft's rating of 128. This was pointed out to us by a reader and we would now like to set the record straight. We regret this error as Arrowfield prides itself on the quality of its research and the accuracy of its advertising. Any reference to Starcraft's Timeform rating in future advertisements will accurately promote Starcraft as the highest Timeform-rated Australian galloper for more than a quarter of a century." Starcraft already has a full book of mares for his first Southern Hemisphere season at Arrowfield commencing in September and is just completing a successful Northern Hemisphere season at the prestigious Cheveley Park Stud, Newmarket, in the UK.
