Thunder Gulch Adds US Gr3

Former Gr1 Kentucky Derby winner & Coolmore shuttler Thunder Gulch (Gulch-Line Of Thunder, by Storm Bird) added a US juvenile group success when favoured son Circular Quay (Thunder Gulch-Circle Of Life, by Belong To Me) "raced 6-wide near the back of the 8-horse field" before producing a "powerful closing charge" to score a 1.25-lengths victory in the US$166,000 Gr3 Bashford Manor Stakes (6 furlongs) for 2YOs at Churchill Downs in Louisville, reported thoroughbredtimes.com. Circular Quay (ridden by Rafael Bejarano for trainer Todd Pletcher) defeated Shermanesque (Fusaichi Pegasus-TV Countess, by TV Commercial) & Run Alex Run (Officer-Electrostat, by Dynaformer). At his previous start, Kentucky-bred Circular Quay (owned by Michael Tabor) "overcame a sluggish start to win his career debut by 6.25-lengths" at Churchill Downs on June 11 & now boasts US$131,434 earnings.
