Amazing Me Wins NZ Northland Breeders

Monday, 17th July 2006

In New Zealand, juvenile colt Amazing Me (Deputy Governor-Riverly Lass, by Gleam Machine) was 2nd-across-the-line but awarded the race on protest in a dramatic NZ$60,000 Listed Northland Breeders Stakes (1200m) for 2YOs at Ruakaka. Amazing Me (ridden by Opie Bosson for trainer Brent Gillovic) gained the stewards' decision over 1st-across-the-line filly Seven Hills (City On A Hill-Cimarosa, by Green Forest) & fellow filly Jazzella (Black Minnaloushe-Jazzmatazz, by Citidancer). Hong Kong-owned Amazing Me (a NZ$80,000 yearling at the 2005 NZB Premier Sale at Karaka) also won his previous start at Te Rapa & is a full brother to Gr1 Singapore Gold Cup & Raffles Cup-winning mare Zirna (2003 Singapore Horse-Of-The-Year & Champion Stayer, who also won the Gr1 NZB Thoroughbred Breeders' Stakes & Singapore Derby Trial among 7 victories from 29 starts for over NZ$1.4 million earnings). Amazing Me is "destined to do his future racing in HK" noted NZ Thoroughbred Marketing.
