Distorted Humor Adds US Black-Type

Monday, 17th July 2006

Former Grand Lodge Thoroughbreds shuttler Distorted Humor (Forty Niner-Danzig's Beauty, by Danzig) added a US black-type success when last season's Gr1-winning 5YO gelding Commentator (Distorted Humor-Outsource, by Storm Bird) "returned from a lay-off of more than 10 months with a decisive 6.25-lengths score in the $64,000 Listed Mugatea Stakes (6.5 furlongs) at Belmont Park" in New York, reported thoroughbredtimes.com. Hot favourite Commentator (ridden by Eibar Coa for trainer Nick Zito) led all-the-way to defeat Gold And Roses (Gold Token-Won Perfect Rose, by Air Forbes Won) with a further 9-lengths back to Bold Decision (Precise End-Houston Tune, by Houston). Commentator was unbeaten in 5 starts as a 3YO; then last year he added victory in the Gr1 Whitney Handicap (defeating eventual US Horse-Of-The-Year Saint Liam by a neck) & finished 3rd (to Saint Liam) in the Gr1 Woodward Stakes on September 10 to close his 4YO campaign. Overall Commentator has won 8 of 10 starts & earned US$750,412.
