Kentucky Yearlings Day-1: US$375k Harlan's Holiday Colt
Egyptian brewing magnate Ahmed Zayat's Zayat Stable "continued its aggressive 2006 buying spree" by paying US$375,000 for a Harlan's Holiday colt (out of Bold Ruckus mare My Sweet Country) reported thoroughbredtimes.com. Zayat's spokesman Sobhy Sonbol commented: "He's just a beautiful horse. He looks like his dad. Harlan's Holiday has sired some really nice horses. He was a tremendous racehorse & I think his progeny are going to do well." The colt (a half-brother to stakes-winners Patriot Love & Deputy Country) was consigned by Gainesway as agent & Gainesway's Michael Hernon added: "The price was significantly higher than we were expecting, but he is a real good colt. He's a strong horse & moves well."
