Wednesday, 19th July 2006

Meanwhile 11-year-old stallion Strategic Mission (who has sired 3 stakes-winners from his first 11 starters) will return to Gainesway Farm in Kentucky for the 2007 breeding season, reported thoroughbredtimes.com. Strategic Mission (Mr Prospector-Sultry Sun, by Buckfinder) stood his initial 2 seasons at Gainesway; this year he stood at Liberty Stud in New York in his 5th season at stud. From 2 crops & 19 foals of racing age, Strategic Mission is the sire of: Gr2 Coolmore Lexington Stakes winner Showing Up (who also won the Colonial Turf Cup Stakes); US stakes-winner Miss Savannah Rose; & Golden Strategy (a champion & stakes-winner in Panama). On the track, Strategic Mission (a half-brother to multiple Gr1 winners Sultry Song & Solar Splendor) won 7 of 24 starts (including the 2001 Gr3 Fort Marcy Handicap) & earned US$414,320. Last year Strategic Mission was bred to more than 90 mares & Gainesway president Antony Beck commented: "Strategic Mission has an outstanding pedigree, showed real natural speed when racing & now has shown the ability to sire top class racehorses in his 1st crop."
