French Deputy Adds Japan Gr1

In Japan, former Arrowfield Stud shuttler French Deputy (Deputy Minister-Mitterand, by Hold Your Peace) notched his 3rd Japanese Gr1 winner when his son Friendship (French Deputy-Friendly Beauty, by Stalwart) scored a 1.5-lengths victory over 13 rivals in the ¥85 million (A$980,000) Gr1 Japan Dirt Derby (2000m) for 3YOs at Ohi. Friendship (ridden by H.Uchida for trainer Katsuhiko Sumii) defeated Bamboo Ere (Afleet-Rainbow Wood, by Rainbow Quest) & Oshu Crown (Jade Robbery-Favoured, by Chief's Crown). Shadai Farm-bred Friendship (owned by Teruya Yoshida) now has 4 wins from 8 starts. His sire French Deputy's previous 2 Japanese Gr1 winners (World Champion Miler & now successful sire Kurofune, plus Champion Sprinter Nobo Jack) were bred in the US; overall French Deputy has sired 7 individual Gr1 winners & 29 stakes-winners. French Deputy's 1st Australian-bred progeny are rising 2Y0s; they sold as yearlings this year averaging $114,431 (& selling up to $420,000).
