Plans For Joint Aust-NZ Betting Pools
The New Zealand Racing Board "says the introduction of co-mingling of betting pools between NZ & several major Australian racing states could happen early next year," reported thoroughbrednews.co.nz. NZRB's Bill Colgan told yesterday's NZ Thoroughbred Breeders' Association annual meeting in Hamilton that discussions were "on-going between the NZRB & major betting operators in Australia with a view to introducing co-mingling". Colgan added NZRB "was even contemplating co-mingling with Woodbine (Canada's premier track) in North America which had favourable time zones to NZ". Colgan summed up: "Without making any commitment, a realistic starting time (for co-mingling with Australia) could be about February next year."
