Tidy Moving On-Line Business To NT

Friday, 21st July 2006

Colin Tidy "is awaiting the green light to move his multi-million dollar on-line bookmaking operation to the Northern territory," reported The Sydney Morning Herald. Tidy "will remain a leader in the Sydney bookmaking ring (where he fields on the Rails)" but is "intent on making Betchoice.com (which currently operates out of offices at Warwick Farm racecourse) a major off-course player". Tidy summed up: "What I want to do is operate on the internet 7-days-a-week as the NSW TAB does & all the corporate bookmakers do. You've also got Betfair; they all bet on the internet 7-days-a-week & I can't. The powers that be have continually rejected our submission in regard to this matter. All I want to do is work on a level playing field, which isn't allowed in NSW. We can't stay here because I have a perception that, although privatised, the TAB receives preferential treatment in this state."
