Monday, 24th July 2006

Kiwi trainer Richard Collett has outlined plans for 1600m specialist Cog Hill (Star Way-Regal Flight, by Straight Strike) to return to Australia & contest 2 Gr1 events in Melbourne this spring. Cog Hill recently completed a successful Brisbane winter campaign, winning the Gr3 Lord Mayor's Cup (1615m) at Doomben & finishing 3rd in the Gr1 Stradbroke Handicap (1400m) at Eagle Farm. His Melbourne spring targets are the Gr1 Waterford Crystal Mile (1600m) at Moonee Valley on October 28 & Gr1 Emirates Stakes (1600m) at Flemington on November 11. In addition to his Brisbane success, Cog Hill was also a star performer in NZ this season with victories in the Gr2 Rich Hill Mile (1600m) at Ellerslie & Gr3 Coupland's Bakeries Mile (1600m) at Riccarton.
