Monday, 24th July 2006

In Australia, Kambula Stud stallion Blevic (Scenic-Blooms, by Biscay) added a black-type success when 5YO gelding Sassbee (Blevic-Aneret Gold, by Marquee Star) scored a 0.75-lengths victory in the $100,000 weight-for-age Listed Sir John Monash Stakes (1100m) at Caulfield in Melbourne. Sassbee (ridden by Nash Rawiller for trainer David Jolly) defeated evergreen 8YO gelding Super Elegant (Mister C-Ever Elegant, by Steel Pulse) who was returning from a 9-month spell & had won this race in each of the last 2 years & 4YO mare Illusionist (Favorite Trick-Mornmoot Lady, by Century). Sassbee (a $3,600 yearling at the 2002 Magic Millions Adelaide Cup Thoroughbred Sale) now has 7 wins & 2 runner-ups (at his last 2 runs in the Gr1 Goodwood Handicap over 1200m at Morphettville in May & Listed Railway Stakes over 1100m at Oakbank in April) from 14 starts for $267,670 earnings.
