Gooree Confirms Top Mares For Don Eduardo

Tuesday, 25th July 2006

Owner-breeder Eduardo Coujanco's Gooree Park has confirmed it will once again support NZ Haunui Farm-based sire Don Eduardo (Zabeel-Diamond Lover, by Sticks And Stones) with 17 mares from its elite broodmare band in 2006. Now into his 4th season at stud, Don Eduardo (who raced in Gooree's red & black striped silks) won the Gr1 AJC Derby, Gr2 MRC Shannon Stakes & Listed MRC Schweppes Cup (plus placings in the Gr1 Rosehill Guineas, Gr1 Underwood Stakes & Gr1 Australia Cup) & earned $1,685,110. Gooree general manager Andrew Baddock noted: "Since his 1st season at stud we have always supported Don Eduardo with a number of our best mares & from the progeny we have, we couldn't be happier: from the rising 2YOs & the near yearlings on the ground, as a general rule the Don Eduardos stand out among our other stock. You can pick them easily, he has really stamped them." Haunui Farm's Mark Chitty added: "The support Don Eduardo received from breeders last season was fantastic & reports from the breakers & trainers give us confidence he will have some nice horses doing the job for him on the track in the near future. We believe Don Eduardo will be the one to carry on the Sir Tristram-Zabeel legacy." Don Eduardo stands at Haunui Farm for NZ$10,000+GST.
