Saratoga Debut For World Record Colt

Tuesday, 25th July 2006

In the US, world record Forestry colt The Green Monkey (the highest-priced thoroughbred ever bought at auction when he purchased by Coolmore for US$16 million) "may make his much-awaited debut at the 36-day Saratoga festival in up-state New York this northern summer," reported thoroughbrednews.co.nz. Trainer Todd Pletcher commented: "I don't want to make any mistakes with him. I'm not saying he has to win first time out, but I am going to play it careful & make sure he is as ready as we can get him. Every once in a while you run one & think: If I had just 1 or 2 extra workouts with him. I won't do that with him. He's a very laid-back horse, very easy to train. He might be the most highly anticipated 2YO to race at Saratoga, who knows? I know he's the most expensive."
