Tyreel Colt Scores In South Africa

Tuesday, 25th July 2006

In South Africa, former Coolmore shuttler Giant's Causeway (Storm Cat-Mariah's Storm, by Rahy) also attracted attention when his juvenile son Our Giant (Giant's Causeway-Macrosa, by McGinty) scored by 2.75-lengths on debut over 1600m at Greyville for trainer Charles Laird. Our Giant is the 4th foal to race from dual Listed winner Macrosa (giving her 100% winners-to-runners); he was bred in Australia by Dean Fleming & sold under his family's Tyreel Stud banner at the 2005 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale to Laird for $480,000. Macrosa currently has a weanling by Woodlands sire Viscount & is due to foal to Vinery shuttler More Than Ready (last season's Australian Champion 1st-Crop sire). Meanwhile Laird also purchased another Giant's Causeway yearling (a filly out of Gulch mare Tuscan Sky) for $200,000 from the Tyreel Stud draft at this year's Inglis Easter Sale in Sydney.
