New Quarantine Rules With Emirates

Wednesday, 26th July 2006

The Australian Racing Board welcomed the announcement by the Federal Government of "amended quarantine rules for the temporary importation of horses from the United Arab Emirates for competing in Australian races & amended rules for the return of Australian horses after competing in international events in the Emirates". ARB chairman Andrew Ramsden commented: "The temporary importation of horses from the UAE to compete here enhances both local & international interest in Australian racing. It also assists the Australian racing industry to further benchmark its racing against international competition. Furthermore the extension of the period for which Australian horses are permitted to be temporarily resident in the UAE to 60 days will enable much wider participation by Australian horses in the Dubai World Cup Racing Festivals: Dubai is now recognised as one of the major centres of international racing & our horses will now be given a proper opportunity to show their class on this part of the world stage."
