Record 5,161 Yearlings At Keeneland September
In the US, Keeneland has catalogued a record 5,161 horses for its September yearling sale (the world's largest yearling auction) which will run for 14 sessions from September 11-25 (no sale on September 15). The number is 51 more than last year's record of 5,110 with 2,704 colts & 2,457 fillies. Yearlings representing 300 stallions will be offered, including 1st-crop sires Aldebaran, Dubai Destination, Empire Maker, Harlan's Holiday, Hawk Wing, Hold That Tiger, Kafwain, Macho Uno, Mineshaft, Posse, Proud Citizen, Sky Mesa, Van Nistelrooy, Vindication, Whywhywhy & Yankee Gentleman. Last year's September Sale established a world record US$384,349,900 in gross receipts, with an average US$108,420 & median US$40,000 plus 40 yearlings sold for US$1 million or more.
