Thursday, 1st March 2007

NZ Curraghmore Stud shuttler Daggers Drawn (Diesis-Sun And Shade, by Ajdal) added a group success when 6YO gelding Hofmeister (Daggers Drawn-Dancing Doll, by Dance Floor) notched successive stakes victories (& 4 wins plus 2 runner-ups from his last 6 starts) by blitzing his rivals by 6.75-lengths in yesterday's $300,000 Gr3 Launceston Cup (2400m) at Mowbray in Launceston in Tasmania. Hofmeister (ridden by Brad Rawiller for trainer Robert Smerdon) defeated top-weighted 5YO gelding Field Hunter (Torrential-Je Reviens, by The Challenge) & fellow 6YO gelding Emerald Jack (Celtic Swing-Out With The Old, by Star Way). Hofmeister (a NZ$25,000 yearling at the 2002 NZ Bloodstock Select Colts Sale was later resold as a NZ$20,000 2YO at the 2002 NZ Bloodstock Horses-In-Training Sale & more recently sold again for $115,000 as part of the 2006 Inglis Written Bloodstock Dispersal in Sydney) now has 9 wins (including last start's Listed Mornington Cup over 2000m on February 21) & 6 placings (including the 2004 Gr1 Canterbury Guineas over 1900m & recently runner-up in the Listed Bagot Handicap over 2400m at Caulfield) from 44 starts for $660,200 prize-money.
