Lekitama Wins Vamos Stakes

Thursday, 1st March 2007

Tasmania's Grenville Stud-based stallion West Quest (Gone West-Veridian, by Green Dancer) added a black-type success when 4YO daughter Lekitama (West Quest-River Girl, by Prince Spy) scored a 1.75-lengths victory in yesterday's $80,000 weight-for-age Listed Vamos Stakes (1400m) for fillies & mares in Launceston. Lekitama (ridden by Brendan McCoull for trainer David Brunton) defeated favoured 5YO mare Oceano (Portland Pirate-Kidada, by Top Of The Pack) & 3YO filly Reunification (West Quest-Entally, by Jetball). Lekitama (a $28,000 yearling at the 2003 Tasmanian Thoroughbred Breeders Sale) now has 6 wins & 1 placing (including last start's Listed Bow Mistress Trophy over 1200m in Hobart on February 10) from 11 starts for $146,773 earnings.
