Palmaday Buys Fusaichi Son Dr Green

Thursday, 1st March 2007

Queensland's Beaudesert-based Palmaday Stud principals Tony Rae & Jenny Alexander have purchased 4YO stallion Dr Green (Fusaichi Pegasus-Palia, by Last Tycoon) to join Mianardi (Boundary-Yarn, by Mr Prospector), King Of Happiness (Spinning World-Mystery Rays, by Nijinsky) & Significant Hill (Danehill-Significant Moment, by Bletchingly) for the 2007 breeding season. Palmaday general manager Jim Buchanan confirmed Dr Green's Hong Kong owner Mr Li "has retained a small percentage, with the intention of purchasing some suitable mares, as well as entering into a partnership agreement with Palmaday Stud to purchase mares that will go to Dr Green". Dr Green (a NZ$480,000 yearling at the 2004 NZB Premier Sale at Karaka) won NZ's 2004 Listed Wellesley Stakes (1000m) at Trentham on debut & then finished 2nd in the Listed Counties Challenge Stakes (1100m); among 4 starts in Sydney as a 2YO during the 2005 autumn, he finished 3rd in the Gr2 Silver Slipper Stakes (1100m) & 4th in the Gr2 Todman Slipper Trial Stakes (1200m), before finishing unplaced in the Gr1 Golden Slipper (1200m). He returned to the track as a 3YO later in 2005 to win the Listed Wanganui Guineas (1320m) & then run 2nd in the Gr2 Hawke's Bay Guineas (1400m) at Hastings (behind multiple Gr1-winning Kiwi star Darci Brahma). Transferred to HK, Dr Green notched placings in both the 2006 Lusitano Challenge Cup (1200m) & Skol Cup (1200m). Dr Green's dam Palia (winner of Australia's Gr3 Emancipation Stakes over 1600m & 4th 3 times at Gr1 level in Australia & NZ) is a half-sister to multiple Group-placed stakes-winner Just Awesome, Gr2-placed stakes-winner Rainbow Alley, stakes-placed Glen Avon Lodge stallion Markane & stakes-placed Lay Capel (whose progeny include dual Group-winner Casino Prince & dual stakes-winner Lord Of The Land). Meanwhile Dr Green's yearling full-brother is catalogued (from Scone-based Cressfield) for the Inglis Easter Sale in Sydney.
