Inglis Melb June Auction Renamed Great Southern Sale

Friday, 2nd March 2007

Victoria's Inglis June Weanling & Thoroughbred Sale (commencing on Sunday 24 June in Melbourne) has been re-named the Great Southern Sale (offering weanlings, broodmares, yearlings, unbroken stock & racehorses) & commission has been waived on any lots sold for $100,000 or more. Inglis director Peter Heagney commented: "The Great Southern Sale presents an ideal opportunity, in terms of timing & venue, for owners to sell their prized race fillies or race mares. Late June is really an in-between period as far as our racing carnivals are concerned & the zero commission is a tremendous incentive for owners wishing to utilise an auction that attracts such a solid buying bench. It's also well worth remembering there is no pass-in commission on weanlings & broodmares. And the most encouraging aspect of the Great Southern Sale is its growth in recent years: in 2003 the sale was conducted over 3 days, while last year it ended up being 5-days. From the feedback I'm already getting, don't be surprised to see it stretch to 5 days again this year."
