Monday, 5th March 2007

Coolmore shuttler Rock Of Gibraltar (Danehill-Offshore Boom, by Be My Guest) added a juvenile black-type success when daughter Gibraltar Campion (Rock Of Gibraltar-What Can I Say, by Khozaam) maintained her unbeaten record & defeated the males with a half-head victory in the $100,000 Listed Pol Roger Stakes (1200m) for 2YOs at Caulfield. Gibraltar Campion (ridden by Corey Brown for trainer Lee Freedman) defeated fast-finishing fellow filly Patasi (Danehill Dancer-Procrastinate, by Jade Hunter) & the colt Simplest (Choisir-Mad Desire, by Covetous). Gibraltar Campion (a NZ$500,000 yearling at the 2006 NZ Bloodstock Premier Sale at Karaka) now has 2 wins (also including a debut victory over 1000m at Werribee on February 16) from 2 starts for $80,000; she is a half-sister to triple Gr2-winner Only Words. Meanwhile Rock Of Gibraltar now boasts 3 individual 1st-crop stakes-winners in Australlia (also Murtajill in the Listed Breeders' Plate & Superfly in the Listed Widden Stakes); he has 11 yearlings catalogued at this week's Inglis Premier Sale in Melbourne & 26 at the Inglis Easter Sale in Sydney.
