Kip Deville Wins US Gr1 Kilroe Mile

The 4YO entire Kip Deville (Kipling-Klondike Kaytie, by Encino) scored by a neck in a 3-way photo-finish to the US$300,000 Gr1 Frank Kilroe Mile (8 furlongs on turf) for 4YOs & up at Santa Anita. Kip Deville (ridden by Richard Migliore for trainer Richard Dutrow) defeated Bayeux (Red Ransom-Elizabeth Bay, by Mr Prospector) with a further nose to Japanese-bred Gr2-winner Silent Name (Sunday Silence-Danzigaway, by Danehill). Oklahoma-bred Kip Deville now has 7 wins (5 over 8 furlongs on turf & 1 over 8 furlongs on dirt) including December's Gr3 Sir Beaufort Stakes (plus runner-up in 2006's Listed Colonial Turf Cup Stakes over 9.5 furlongs) from 15 starts for US$648,642 earnings.
