Murjana Wins Carbine Club Stakes

Former Coolmore shuttler Giant's Causeway (Storm Cat-Mariah's Storm, by Rahy) added a juvenile group success when daughter Murjana (Giant's Causeway-Twyla, by Danehill) finished strongly from back in the field to gain the verdict in a 3-way photo-finish to the $100,000 Gr3 Carbine Club Breeders' Stakes (1200m) for 2YOs at Morphettville. Murjana (ridden by Simon Price for trainer David Hayes, who landed the trifecta) scored by a short-head from previously unbeaten fellow filly Armanjena (Rock Of Gibraltar-La Veine, by Diesis) with a further half-neck to another filly Miss Hijinx (Red Ransom-Glammis, by Marauding). Murjana (a $300,000 yearling at the 2006 Magic Millions Gold Coast Sale) now has 1 win from 2 starts for $67,000 prize-money; her dam Twyla (Danehill-Dancing Show) is a 3/4 sister-in-blood to current Australian champion Arrowfield Stud sire Redoute's Choice & Twyla's current yearling (a filly by Coolmore sire Encosta de Lago) will be offered at the Inglis Easter Sale in Sydney. Meanwhile Giant's Causeway has 14 yearlings catalogued at this week's the Inglis Premier Sale in Melbourne & a further 15 at the Inglis Easter Sale.
