Tuesday, 6th March 2007

US trainer Richard Dutrow junior recorded his 1,000th winner when 4YO entire Kip Deville (Kipling-Klondike Kaytie, by Encino) scored by a neck in a 3-way photo-finish to the weekend's Gr1 Frank Kilroe Mile (8 furlongs on turf) at Santa Anita Park in California. Dutrow's milestone victory "was accomplished from 4,003 starters for an impressive 25% win-rate," noted thoroughbredtimes.com. Dutrow's runners have won 92 stakes & 38 graded-stakes & earned US$42,680,164 prize-money. He began working with horses as an assistant to his father (the late Richard Dutrow senior) before starting his own training career in the late 1990s & developing a successful East Coast stable based at Aqueduct.
