Deputy Minister Son Joins NZ Long Acres Stud

Long Acres Stud proprietors Myles Gordon & Debbie Clark have secured the 1st son of US champion juvenile & Canadian champion sire Deputy Minister to start stud duties in New Zealand. The 7YO stallion Remind (Deputy Minister-Watch The Time, by Timeless Moment) was bred & raced by Kentucky's Claiborne Farm & recorded 5 wins (including the Listed Storm Cat Stakes) & 11 placings (including the Gr2 Arlington Classic Stakes, Gr3 Kent Breeders' Cup Stakes, Gr3 Jefferson Cup Stakes, Gr3 Crown American Turf Stakes & Gr3 Fort Marcy Handicap) from 33 starts (12 at Group or Listed level on turf) over 4 seasons for US$476,174 earnings & retired sound as a 6YO. Remind's now deceased sire of sires Deputy Minister has produced 87 stakes-winners, 6 champions & earners of nearly US$80 million; & his daughters have produced 107 stakes-winners to date. Remind's dam Watch The Time (a 2YO winner) is by black-type winner of 10 races Timeless Moment (sire of champion racehorses Gilded Time & Culture Vulture); Watch The Time's 9 foals to race are all winners, including Group performers Watch (9 wins), War Thief (14 wins), Stop Watch (6 wins) & Prime Meridian. Gordon summed up: "It's not often you can find a horse with the whole package: pedigree, performance & conformation. But this guy has it all. We consider ourselves very lucky." Remind will stand at Darfield-based Long Acres (west of Christchurch) alongside resident sire Senor Pete.
