Goffs 2YOs: $264k Soviet Star Colt

In the UK, Ireland's Curragh-based trainer Michael Halford out-bid agent Bobby O'Ryan & paid top price of £110,000 (A$264,000) for a colt by Soviet Star (out of Bahhare mare Sadika) at the inaugural 1-day Goffs 2YO Breeze-Up Sale at Kempton (featuring the 1st European 2YO breeze-ups on Polytrack). The colt (consigned by Canice Farrell's Knockatrina House as agent) was previously purchased for just £29,000 (A$70,000) at Goffs in February 2006 & Halford told racingpost.co.uk: "He's going to take a bit of time, but came well recommended to me & is for a client who's a fan of Soviet Star. He'll be a back-end 2YO-type."
