Widden Denies Court Command Purchase

Wednesday, 14th March 2007

Widden Stud "denied it has purchased a 50% share in Court Command (Commands-Court House Lane, by Zoffany) for $2.5 million" after a caller announced it as fact on 2KY's Race Day program, reported The Daily Telegraph. Widden proprietor Antony Thompson told the newspaper: "We've spoken to Darren (trainer Darren Smith) in the past, but we've spoken to him about 10 horses. We definitely haven't bought a share in Court Command." Court Command (a $120,000 yearling at the 2005 Inglis Classic Sale in Sydney) has 4 wins (including 2006's Gr2 Stan Fox Stakes over 1400m, Gr3 Golden Rose over 1400m & Gr3 Up & Coming Stakes over 1200m) & 1 placing (in 2006's Gr1 Caulfield Guineas over 1600m) from 8 starts for $993,475 earnings.
