Written Tycoon Officially Retired
Gr2-winning 4YO entire Written Tycoon (Iglesia-Party Miss, by Kenmare) "has been officially retired after injuring himself again in Saturday's Gr2 Challenge Stakes (1200m)" reported The Daily Telegraph. A syndicate headed by Iskander Racing bought Written Tycoon (a $50,000 yearling at the 2004 Magic Millions Premier Sale on the Gold Coast) from The Written Bloodstock Syndicate for what was reported as "an undisclosed 7-figure sum" in August 2005; he had won the Gr2 Todman Stakes & placed in the Gr3 San Domenico Stakes, & subsequently also finished runner-up in 2006's Listed Canterbury Classic. Overall Written Tycoon (Timeform's 2nd-highest rated 2YO colt behind Golden Slipper winner Stratum in the 2004-05 season) retires with 2 wins & 3 runner-ups from 11 starts for $287,875 earnings. Eskander Racing announced in December that Written Tycoon would begin stallion duties at Eliza Park Stud in Victoria at the conclusion of his 2007 autumn campaign.
