On the track, Kentucky-bred Bright Candles (El Gran Senor-Christmas Bonus, by Key To The Mint) recorded 5 wins (including the Santa Ysabel Stakes & Majorette Handicap) & 7 added-money placings (including the Gr1 Kentucky Oaks, Gr1 Santa Anita Oaks & Gr1 Las Virgenes Stakes) from 34 starts for US$405,091 earnings. Her son Grand Slam (by Gone West) won the 1997 Gr1 Moet Champagne Stakes & Gr1 Futurity Stakes plus finished runner-up in the 1998 Breeders' Cup Sprint in his last start; he stands at Ashford Stud in Kentucky for US$35,000. Overall Bright Candles produced 11 named foals for 9 winners (4 stakes-performers).
