Manton Joins Woodlands Roster

Friday, 16th March 2007

Woodlands Stud announced the addition of Gr2-winning 4YO stallion Manton (Danbehill-Kensington Gardens, by Grosvenor) to its 2007 stallion roster at Denman in the NSW Hunter Valley. Manton (bred by the late Robert Sangster & sold on account of Collingrove Stud for $1.1 million at the 2004 Inglis Easter Yearling Sale in Sydney as part of the last southern hemisphere crop from multiple champion sire Danehill) won the 2006 Gr2 Tulloch Stakes (2000m) at Rosehill Gardens, plus stakes-placings in 2005's Gr2 AAMI Vase (2040m) at Moonee Valley, Gr3 Spring Stakes (1600m) at Newcastle & Listed Ming Dynasty Quality (1400m) at Royal Randwick. Manton (a full brother to Gr1 Victoria Derby winner Blackfriars, Gr1 SAJC Oaks winner Larrocha & multiple stakes-winner Waterford Road) is the 7th foal from Kensington Gardens (runner-up in the Gr2 Storm Queen Stakes & 3rd in the Gr1 AJC Oaks). Manton will stand his initial season at $11,000.
