Monday, 19th March 2007

Cambridge Stud's multiple champion sire Zabeel (Sir Tristram-Lady Giselle, by Nureyev) added an NZ black-type success when 4YO mare Ritzy Lady (Zabeel-Ever Clever, by Centaine) scored a 1.25-lengths victory in the NZ$80,000 weight-for-age Listed NZ Bloodstock NZ St Leger (2500m) for 3YOs & 4YOs at Trentham. Ritzy Lady (ridden by Australian jockey Stathi Katsidis for trainer Roger James) defeated 4YO gelding Jotilla (Umatilla-Joan, by Colonel Collins) & fellow 4YO mare Lady Atire (Pentire-Lady Acumen, by Sound Reason). Ritzy Lady (a $340,000 yearling at the 2004 Inglis Easter Sale in Sydney) took her record to 6 wins & 5 placings (including 2006's Gr2 Counties Cup over 1200m at Ellerslie) from 23 starts.
