Street Cry Adds US Gr3

Monday, 19th March 2007

In the US, Darley shuttler Street Cry (Machiavellian-Helen Street, by Troy) added a group success when Gr1-winning colt Street Sense (Street Cry-Bedazzle, by Dixieland Band) returned from a 133-day spell to score by a nose (& set a new track record) in the US$300,000 Gr3 Tampa Bay Derby (8.5 furlongs) for 3YOs at Tampa Bay Downs. Street Sense (ridden by Calvin Borel for trainer Carl Nafzger) defeated fast-finishing favourite Any Given Saturday (Distorted Humor-Weekend In Indy, by A.P.Indy) in 1min 43.11sec with a further 6.25-lengths back to Delightful Kiss (Kissin Kris-Deputy's Delight, by French Deputy). This was the 1st start in 2007 for last year's US Eclipse Award-winning 2YO Street Sense since his record 10-lengths victory in November's Gr1 Breeders' Cup Juvenile (8.5 furlongs) at Churchill Downs; overall he now boasts 3 wins (plus 3rd in both the Gr1 Lane's end Breeders' Futurity & Gr3 Arlington-Washington Breeders' Cup Futurity) from 6 starts for US$1,358,200 earnings.
