Louisiana 2YOs: Average Down 30%

Wednesday, 21st March 2007

Overall during the 1-day sale, 192 2YOs sold for for US$1,757,000 (up 7.5% on last year's 125 sold for US$1,635,000); however the US$9,151 average was down 30% (last year US$13,080). Charlotte Stemmans Clavier (president of sale administrator Stemmans Inc) told thoroughbredtimes.com: "We sold 50% more 2YOs this year than at last year's sale, so it was not unexpected that our averages would drop some. However we are proud of how smoothly the whole operation went & already have a few ideas in the mix on how to make next year's sale even better." During the mixed portion of the sale, 28 horses sold for US$55,800 (last year 30 sold for US$56,900) at an average US$1,993 (last year US$1,897).
