$1m Colt Discorsi Retired

Thursday, 22nd March 2007

Former $1 million yearling & now 3YO colt Discorsi (Galileo-Express A Smile, by Success Express) "will most likely be retired after fading badly" over 1800m on the Kensington track at Randwick in Sydney, reported thoroughbrednews.co.nz. Discorsi (ridden by Corey Brown for trainer Lee Freedman) was "building up to the Gr1 Australian Derby (2400m) at Randwick on Easter Saturday," but "was scoped after the disappointing performance & found to have a wind problem that Freedman believes means the end of the colt's racing career". Freedman summed up: "He was travelling well & you would not have wanted to be on anything else, but then he just petered out. The scoping showed he had a bad wind problem & some other issues in the wind department. My recommendation is to retire him." Discorsi (a $1 million yearling at the 2005 Inglis Easter Sale in Sydney) has recorded 1 win (in the 2006 Listed Gibson Carmichael Stakes over 1620m at Flemington) & 4 placings from 10 starts for $80,600 earnings.
