Friday, 23rd March 2007

Off-track wagering in New Jersey "will officially launch on March 30 when Favorites In Vineland (owned & operated by Greenwood Racing) opens it doors," reported bloodhorse.com. The 13,500-square-feet Vineland betting site (seating 300 patrons & offering full-card simulcasts 12-hours-a-day, 7-days-a-week from noon-midnight) "is the 1st of 15 such facilities scheduled to be built state-wide". The dominant feature "is an enormous, oval-shaped sports bar that is the centerpiece of the design" accompanied by 400 video-production units positioned throughout the facility to incorporate the latest cutting-edge technology featuring plasma screens & high-definition video, particularly in the sports bar area, where fans can also enjoy major sporting events"; the entirely non-smoking establishment also incorporates "an upscale grill offering everything from appetisers to burgers, fish & steaks". Greenwood owns Philadelphia Park Casino & Racetrack in neighboring Pennsylvania, as well as Atlantic City Race Course (southeast of Vineland).
