Top Sprinter Strada Retired To Stud

Friday, 23rd March 2007

Meanwhile plans for 4YO sprinting entire Strada (Danehill-Shindig, by Straight Strike) to contest Sunday's Gr1 Galaxy (1100m) have been scrapped & he has been retired due a knee injury. Trainer Gai Waterhouse confirmed: "Managing part owner Alan Bell (who races Strada with Nick Moraitis & John Symonds) is currently in discussion with several studs & will make a decision on Strada's stud career in coming weeks." Strada (a $750,000 yearling at the 2004 Inglis Easter Sale in Sydney) retires with 4 wins (including the Listed Eskimo Prince Stakes over 1100m & Listed Carrington Stakes over 1100m) & 2 placings from 9 starts for $190,075 earnings. Strada's dam Shindig won the 1998 Gr1 Coolmore Classic in course record time; she is the dam of 4 winners (also including Shinzig, a 4-time winner & multiple Gr1-placed in New Zealand).
