George Washington Back In Training At Ballydoyle

Monday, 26th March 2007

In Ireland, 4-time Gr1-winner George Washington (Danehill-Bordighera, by Alysheba) "whose stallion career at Coolmore Stud was halted early this month due to infertility problems, is back at Ballydoyle & in light training with a view to making a dramatic return to racecourse action this season," reported racingpost.co.uk. Trainer Aidan O'Brien confirmed: "George is back with us. He is in an isolation yard & is doing light exercise. You could call it pre-training & we will just have to wait & see how things go with him. He has been entered for the Tattersalls Gold Cup at The Curragh on May 27, but it is far too soon to be talking about where he might run & it's quite possible that the Tattersalls race could come too soon for him." Coolmore "brought in veterinary expert Dr Dixon Varner from the US to consult on George Washington's failure at stud, but the outcome of those consultations has not yet been made public".
