Pistols Win Adds Paullinus Pay-Dirt

Wednesday, 28th March 2007

Just a week after Bill Benson & partners bought the racing & breeding rights to regally-bred US galloper Paullinus (A.P.Indy-Lailani, by Unfuwain) they struck immediate pay-dirt when the victory by Woodlands Stud 2YO colt Pistols (Dehere-Duelling Girl by Dayjur) in the Listed Baillieu Handicap (1400m) at Warwick Farm added an important Australian pedigree upgrade to the Paullinus page. Pistols (a $1.1 million yearling at the 2006 Inglis Easter Sale in Sydney) now has 2 wins & 2 placings (including the Gr3 Skyline Stakes over 1200m at Randwick on March 10) from 4 races. Pistols's dam Duelling Girl is a half-sister to Paullinus's dam Lailani & Benson enthused: "I hear Pistols is now headed to the Gr1 Sires' Produce Stakes. I hope he can win that one too & add Gr1 Australian Black Type to Paullinus's pedigree page." Benson also confirmed he "will be looking closely" at the yearling full-brother to Pistols (consigned by Bellerive Stud) catalogued for next month's Inglis Easter Yearling Sale; in addition, a week later, a weanling (by Vinery sire Mossman) from another relative in the same family is catalogued at the Inglis Weanling & Broodmare Sale.
